Frances Crowe is a fibre artist, specializing in woven tapestry for commission and exhibition. She designs and makes large scale wall hangings and framed miniatures from her idyllic rural studio in the Midlands County of Roscommon, Ireland.
Her inspiration comes from the landscape around her home, from songs sung and stories told.
Her most recent body of work explores Love and Loss.
Frances has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally.
She has received numerous awards and Arts bursaries throughout her 30year career.
Frances likes to experiment with a variety of materials and yarns to achieve the depth of colour and texture desired to create an emotional response from the viewer.
She is a dedicated educator with a passion to pass on her skills and expertise to others. Often invited to give demonstrations and become involved in Community Arts Projects, Workshops and classes.
Frances has designed and built an interactive participatory weaving frame, which she invites people from all ages and backgrounds to get involved.
