Being a tapestry weaver is central to my life as an artist. Design development is digital, from initial photograph to final design.
Colour is really important to me. Seurat’s pointillist paintings, with their tiny dots of colour, continue to influence the small pixel squares and rectangles often seen in my tapestries. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources including the garden and reflections in buildings.
The tapestries are woven on frames or an upright loom, using mainly natural fibres and threads. As a tapestry weaver I love the process of tapestry weaving, which is just as well as larger pieces can take many months to weave.
I regularly exhibit in the UK and abroad. As a qualified and experienced teacher, I lead workshops in a variety of subjects including tapestry and paper weaving, and computer manipulation.
Commissions welcome.
