Tapestry Weaver and Fungi Dye artist
I love to weave, to follow an idea through and make it happen by interweaving fibres, creating textures is very special. I am inspired by land and seascapes, colour, ancient cultures, stone marks and rock art. I have always been attracted to texture/ cloth and natural fibres leading me to spinning and creating my own yarns and then to using dyes from fungi. I now specialise in using dyes from mushrooms and this interest has taken me on many journeys across Australia,USA,Scandinavia, EU & Baltic countries opening up new pathways to creative interpretation.
In my weaving I tend to work intuitively exploring the weave and fibre/colour but always the progress of the weave is exciting.
I enjoy teaching tapestry weaving and provide a range of beginner /refresher; texture & design workshops. I will also give talks about my work and dyeing with fungi.
Open Studio – my studio in Balerno is open by appointment. Balerno is a small village below the Pentlands to the west side of Edinburgh.
