Shaped 3D Tapestry Weaving – Angmering, West Sussex, October 11th to 13th.

Barbara Burns is an internationally renowned weaver from the USA who is visiting the UK and Ireland this autumn to deliver this very special Tapestry Weaving class. Barbara is well known for her woven burlesque images and portraiture and also for the development of 3-dimensional art tapestry garments. It is the specialist techniques for design and creation of 3-dimensional shapes in tapestry that will be the focus of the masterclass. The event starts with a presentation from Barbara, of her experiences with designing and weaving shaped tapestries followed by 2 full teaching days.

The fee of £250 includes tuition (payable in 2 instalments), free use of weaversbazaar’s yarns, lunches and refreshments.

Exploring Tapestry with Macramé – 26 October 2019

 
Exploring Tapestry with Macramé – Forest Row, East Sussex October 26th 10.00am to 16.00pm

Dianne Miles will be teaching the techniques for your own version of a tapestry-woven and macramé-knotted bracelet to take away. Suitable for anyone who has basic knowledge of weaving but no experience of macramé which Dianne will teach from first principles. After exploring some ideas for incorporating macramé into designs for tapestry weaving students will work on a ready warped tapestry frame, or bring your own. We will provide equipment and a full range of weaversbazaar coloured yarns for weaving and knotting plus felt and beads to embellish and finish your work.

Refreshments will be provided but bring your own lunch. Early Bird price of £60.00 will apply until 5th October and thereafter £85.

BTG Demonstrating Tapestry Weaving at the Vyne in Hampshire – till end August

Members from the BTG are demonstrating tapestry weaving at the Vyne, a National Trust house in Hampshire.
The tapestries from the house’s tapestry room are being conserved which has provided an opportunity for us to exhibit contemporary tapestries and explain the nature of tapestry weaving with a display of historical text panels, illustrative tapestry samples and showing visitors the techniques involved. The display continues to the end of the August.
