I can offer one to one tuition in basic principles of tapestry weaving at my studio, or to galleries and museums in the south of England. I also offer introductory lessons in spinning suitable weaving yarns on a double drive spinning wheel.
I run a monthly Saturday weaving class for all levels from my studio in Angmering. Individual tuition throughout the year. I also run weaving, dyeing and textile courses from 1 to 5 days.
Formerly Northlight Studios, Stromness, Orkney - Ros is now developing a traditional Orkney croft house a creative space on the smaller and very beautiful island of Westray. Short courses are being run in conjunction with the West Manse - www.westmanse.co.uk. Individual students welcome, in particular those wishing to develop their practice further.
I teach beginners and those who want to develop their skills in tapestry weaving through exploring techniques, use of colour and design. Learn how to set up, weave a variety of techniques for shapes, shading and diagonals. The classes are small so students have a lot of individual help and encouragement. I live near the beach so students can lear how to include beach finds such as shells in their work.
Hilary Charlesworth is a tapestry weaver with over 35 years of experience in weaving and teaching. She is the author of "Painting with Yarns", an introduction to woven tapestry. Soulweaving days - for those who want to develop skills in tapestry weaving, try a range of techniques, and experience the therapeutic benefits of weaving, through exploring colour and texture. Beginners and improvers. From 1-3 people in a group.
Weaving workshops in my studio for individuals or up to 4 people. Using frames nailed top and bottom for warping, explore colour blending possibilities and creating designs in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
I give talks on the history of tapestry weaving from the 15th Century onwards and bring along real examples too. I can give interest groups a starter course in tapestry weaving, and offer 'one to one' help individuals to get started.
Tapestry Weaving, Felt Making, Dyeing and Spinning
The Many Faces of Soumak is a comprehensive online course with “forever” access including pre-recorded videos, written content, illustrations, PDF’s and slide shows for each module. The 6 modules are Single Oriental Soumak, Vertical Soumak, Double Soumak, More Double Soumak Variations, Knots, and Advanced Variations. The course is open for immediate enrolment with no start and end date. New modules open every 2 weeks from the time of enrolment; the entire course lasts approximately 12 weeks. There are no assignments; however, students are encouraged to share their work for feedback.

I teach tapestry from my studio or on your premises:
‘Weaving a picture’ – a one day fun workshop to weave a small picture on a polystyrene meat tray. All materials provided.
‘Introduction to Tapestry’ course – a two day intensive course for up to 6 people to create a 5” x 7” tapestry using multiple techniques. I run these courses on demand from my studio or can run the course on your premises. All materials are provided; the looms and bobbins are available for purchase after the course.
