Paula Armstrong
Courses of six x three-hour sessions (18 hours). One and two day-courses. All courses for beginners and improvers.
Course participants learn:
- how to warp up
- basic structures and techniques of tapestry weaving
- textural techniques
- colour theory and practice
Classes are small. A broad, creative and flexible approach is taken adapting to student’s individual needs.

Joan Baxter
Classes: 3 day intensive short courses - usually in June and September every year, taught in my weaving studio in the Highlands of Scotland.
Jennifer Bennett
I provide both private one-to-one tuition as well as a range of new beginner's and improver's tapestry workshops in Hampshire and the south of England with schools, community groups, galleries and museums.
Jane Brunning
I run a monthly Saturday weaving class for all levels from my studio in Angmering. Individual tuition throughout the year. I also run weaving, dyeing and textile courses from 1 to 5 days.
Ros Bryant
Formerly Northlight Studios, Stromness, Orkney - Ros is now developing a traditional Orkney croft house a creative space on the smaller and very beautiful island of Westray. Short courses are being run in conjunction with the West Manse - www.westmanse.co.uk. Individual students welcome, in particular those wishing to develop their practice further.
Claire Buckley
I teach beginners and those who want to develop their skills in tapestry weaving through exploring techniques, use of colour and design.Learn how to set up, weave a variety of techniques for shapes, shading and diagonals. The classes are small so students have a lot of individual help and encouragement. I teach near the beach in St Leonards on Sea/Hastings so students can have a stroll along the prom as well as learning about tapestry.
Hilary Charlesworth
Hilary Charlesworth is a tapestry weaver with over 35 years of experience in weaving and teaching. She is the author of "Painting with Yarns", an introduction to woven tapestry. I offer a range of Tapestry Weaving workshops in my studio to individuals or small groups who maybe beginners or those wishing to develop their weaving skills. Students can learn how to warp up ,basic weave techniques and other textural techniques. I also provide talks, fungi dye demonstrations, tapestry workshops for Guilds or other groups for up to 10 people. Rosamunde Wilson
I teach tapestry on three levels:
‘Weaving a picture’ – a one day fun workshop to weave a small picture on a polystyrene meat tray. All materials provided. This can be for up to 10 people on your premises and is suitable for all ages.
‘Introduction to Tapestry’ course – a two day intensive course for up to 6 people to create a 5” x 7” tapestry using multiple techniques. I run these courses on demand from my studio or can run the course on your premises. All materials are provided; the looms and bobbins are available for purchase after the course.
Individual tapestry coaching – for weavers wishing to progress to weaving their own designs. I offer ‘pay as you go’ individual tuition to help with design, warping up and advice on techniques.
