Ros Bryant

Formerly Northlight Studios, Stromness, Orkney - Ros is now developing a traditional Orkney croft house a creative space on the smaller and very beautiful island of Westray. Claire Buckley

I teach beginners and those who want to develop their skills in tapestry weaving through exploring techniques, use of colour and design. Learn how to set up, weave a variety of techniques for shapes, shading and diagonals. The classes are small so students have a lot of individual help and encouragement. I live near the beach so students can lear how to include beach finds such as shells in their work.

Kennita Tully

The Many Faces of Soumak is a comprehensive online course with “forever” access  including  pre-recorded videos, written content, illustrations, PDF’s and slide shows for each module. The 6 modules are Single Oriental Soumak, Vertical Soumak, Double Soumak, More Double Soumak Variations, Knots, and Advanced Variations. The course is open for immediate enrolment with no start and end date. New modules open every 2 weeks from the time of enrolment; the entire course lasts approximately 12 weeks. There are no assignments; however, students are encouraged to share their work for feedback.

‘Weaving a picture’ – a one day fun workshop to weave a small picture on a polystyrene meat tray.   All materials provided. 

‘Introduction to Tapestry’ course – a two day intensive course for up to 6 people to create a 5” x 7” tapestry using multiple techniques.  I run these courses on demand from my studio or can run the course on your premises.   All materials are provided; the looms and bobbins are available for purchase after the course.
