I am intrigued by the notion of capturing an ephemeral moment of pleasure in a weaving that absorbs me over many months.
The weaving process amplifies the pleasure of the recollection of the moment which resonates with the texture and colour of the materials.
My captured moments are very varied, ranging from a Paris street, a Neolithic site or the surprising texture and colour of an oak barrel stave. The unifying theme is the special and often unexpected moment that characterises my experience.
For over twenty years I have benefited from Claire Coyle’s guidance and artistry. More recently membership of the BTG has encouraged me to create and exhibit and workshops with Louise Martin at Stirling Castle has expanded my experience into medieval and coptic techniques.
My work is mainly small format and I favour linen and silk yarns for their texture and depth of colour.
At the moment I am having fun just weaving and trying a variety of styles mainly as a result of my workshop experiences.
