More details of my work can be found on the following site:
My name is Michael Crompton and I have been weaving since the early 1960’s. I have had twenty six solo exhibitions throughout the UK and abroad. My tapestry studio was in the Weardale, Co Durham village of Ireshopeburn from 1977 until we moved to the area of Morecambe bay in 2004. My work has developed continually from these early years but has always been inspired by nature, its cycles and seasons with associated colour and textual changes. I use the curved line to emphasise movement and the passing of time. In recent years I spend more and more time in researching, reading and writing, drawing and painting before moving to my high warp frame looms. Much more detail concerning my methods, sources of inspiration and writings on individual tapestries is available.
