Our ‘Frid’ tapestry weaving yarn is spun from Norwegian Spelsau wool with a small amount of Norwegian C1. A great yarn with strength, liveliness and lustre that is easy to weave. Dyed in 108 glorious colours. Sold in quantities of 100g skeins, 25g and 10g balls and colour themed packs of 10m and 3m bows.

Our website, together with our studio premises located on the Lancashire Cumbria border near the small market town of Carnforth, provides opportunities for you to explore our stock. Visits to the Studio can be arranged by appointment.

West Dean

The West Dean College Foundation Diploma in Tapestry Weaving is a two year, part-time course which offers tapestry weavers a broad insight into the technical and creative techniques of tapestry weaving, necessary for developing skills and building your own creative language.

The course is aimed at weavers who have completed a beginners’ course at West Dean or elsewhere and are looking to commit to an extended and intensive programme of study.

Sacred Fibres: Textiles of the Hidden High Himalaya

An immersive journey into the textiles of the mountain communities of the Humla area of northwestern Nepal. Journeying from Kathmandu into the little visited valleys of Humla deep in the high Himalaya, we will explore traditional weaving, spinning, dyeing and embroidery traditions, including the making of yak hair rope and learning about ceremonial and traditional clothing production, use, repair and symbolism. Time also for your own creativity inspired by your travels and with optional treks.
