My practice explores the wild and ancient spirit of the Scottish landscape, translating its raw beauty into tactile form. Through the physical processes of tapestry and tufting, I transform natural fibres and found materials into richly textured surfaces that invite touch as well as sight. Each piece becomes a dialogue between colour, texture, and form—where deep contrasts and raised reliefs evoke the rugged vitality of the land.
Drawing inspiration from shifting seasons, rural journeys, and the enduring myths of Scotland, my work seeks to capture both the atmosphere and emotion of place. Ideas often begin in sketchbooks or through lino printing and photography, allowing me to distil fleeting impressions before reinterpreting them through fibre and form. Weaving and tufting then become acts of translation—bridging traditional craft techniques with contemporary artistic expression.
