My career background is in IT engineering.  Tapestry weaving demands similar attention to structure which appeals strongly to me.  If something interests me, I unusually find myself turning over ideas for a tapestry design, so my work ranges over mythological subjects, sport, urban life and landscape. 

 I typically prepare a full size outline design and develop fine detail on the frame.. My primary interest is to use the materials and techniques which were common in the Middle Ages.  I like to use a strong colour palette, but very  occasionally I  experiment with softer colours. I am interested in the history of tapestry weaving around the world and have given occasional talks on the topic around the Scottish Borders/ Northumberland.

 I hold a foundation diploma in Tapestry Weaving from West Dean College.
