I weave my tapestries on a high loom warped at 4 ends/cm and equipped with a pair of pedals. My weft yarns are almost exclusively silks, fine enough to use up to 6 or 8 differently coloured threads in one weft. I enjoy weaving very subtle changes in colour to capture light effects and to give my images depth. For colour effects, I sometimes weave half passes, and I use various weaving techniques to enhance texture. I work according to a small scale sketch or, if the image calls for it, I also rely on an additional full size sketch which gives just the main lines of the picture. Mostly, I work in small series, doing several image of a chosen theme. This allows me to explore more deeply the numerous optical effects my technique allows for.
