I am a Mixed Media and Textile artist, exploring the crossover between Fine Art and Textiles by combining a variety of techniques and media. I am particularly excited by tapestry and the creation of a cloth from yarn and experimenting with combining crochet and sculptural materials such as chicken wire, to create pieces that are 3 dimensional. I love playing with different kinds of yarn, from wool, to banana silk, to boucle yarns that have been randomly dyed, and having been given some fleeces recently, I intend to spin and dye some of my own yarns for weaving. Many of my more time consuming pieces follow the theme of rainforest destruction, an issue which concerns me greatly, but every now and again, for some light relief, I like to create small weavings which are inspired by pieces of work by particular artists I admire.
